Game of Thrones..lets cut the anticipation..

The biggest question on Game of Thrones fans minds at the moment. IS JON SNOW DEAD? Well, a clue may have been given as a poster for the upcoming series next year has been released today, starring none other than Mr Kit Harington's character Jon Snow. It doesn't give away much but it's something, a sign his character could be returning to the next series, which is all any GOT fan is hoping. He doesn't look too good in the poster with all the blood, so his possible storyline for when he returns still remains a mystery, as we are all still unsure whether he is alive or dead. Kit insisted that he was finished with the show and his character, but the fate of his character has been kept a mystery. However, Kit was spotted in Belfast where and when they had been filming the new series, so speculation around Jon Snow's fate rose immidiately.
I was personally devestated when Jon Snow was stabbed and "killed", however I feel that this is exactly what HBO want, the hype and anticipation around Jon Snow's fate. It has circled the internet, taken over social media from the creation of memes to public discussions between fans about it. And this spreads word to more audiences about the show and creates something for new fans to be interested in, whilst keeping original fans on the edge of their seat. It's like a free yet efficient form of advertisment and this is becoming a regular thing. But it's not just GOT that has done it, take The Walking Dead, the whole "is Glenn dead" question flooded the internet and social media after the recent episode, which has shown the character Glenn being "killed". It's a very clever publicity stunt, it brings fans together whilst bringing new fans in. What do you think?
But back to Jon Snow. Do I think he's dead? Of course not, they'd have to try a lot better than that to get rid of him. But hey what do you think about it? Let me know!
They say that the series will start in April next year, but a specific date is yet to be set. Oh they don't half know how to keep us on the edge of our seats.

Thankyou for reading this quick, little post and I hope you enjoyed it!
Speak soon.

Can't beat a film for Christmas...

Hey there!
Can you believe how fast Christmas has come around, didn't seem like yesterday that I was welcoming in 2015 now in just over a month it will be 2016! Its crazy, but new year means new movies, tv. And nevermind next year we still have massive films to see this year, like the new Star Wars film which I am so so freaking excited for! We have the new adaptation of Macbeth, Krampus which is the new Christmas horror film, yes, you heard right, Christmas horror!
But Christmas is soon approaching and I thought I'd write a post suggesting some films, games etc that you could give as a gift at Christmas. So if your struggling to think of what to get someone, you can't beat a good box set. Or if you know someone is a mad film fanatic like myself, theres so many special edition film/tv and game sets and such that you can give as a gift. But enough of me blabbering on, lets get to it.

The Hobbit Trilogy

Now if you know someone who loves Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit or both, this is a perfect gift. Or it could even be for someone who you know loves mythical/action/adventure films. You get all three films obviously, and you can also get the extended edition, which has never before seen features, extended versions of the films and such included in it. This is available from today at HMV for only £39.99! Click here to be directed straight to the product!

The Walking Dead - Season 5

The Walking Dead is such a big TV series and very popular! It has one of the biggest fan bases I have seen for a TV show and this box set would be an ideal gift for a Walking Dead fan! Now unfortuantley its only available in America, however you will still be able to get it shipped from America and I will insert a link anyway! But it looks brilliant, and such a unique thing to give to someone as a christmas gift! So it's definitely worth a nosey! Now you can get it in Blu-Ray, and it is $134.99, which is a lot of money, but worth the investment if you have a hardcore Walking Dead fan to surprise at Christmas. It will be available from 1st December! Click link to be directed straight to the product!

Star Wars

With the new Star Wars film being released in December, whats not better than the original films to give as a gift at Christmas. The one I have found retails for £49.99, and this includes all 6 films. With all the hype around the new installment, this could be a perfect gift for many! Click here to be directed straight to the product!

Jurrasic Park

Again, the new installment to the Jurrasic Park franchise was released earlier this year, so this could be the perfect gift. It includes all 3 of the first films, but you can also throw in the new Jurrasic World with it, but there are some box sets that do all 4 together. But this one includes a cool T-Rex figuire, as well as other features. And this retailes for £85.00, so again only for someone you know is a hardcore Jurrasic Park fan, but this looks really cool. But again, you can have a nosey for yourself! Click here to be directed straight to the product!

Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones is one of my favourite TV shows and has been such a huge hit, with so much hype! And this box set which includes seasons 1-4 can be a perfect gift! It retails for £45.00. Click here to be directed straight to the product!

Some Games that may interest you...

Now I am not much of a fan of gaming, but I thought it may appeal to most people, and some games that are being released are part of film franchises, so here are some games that you can give to someone as a gift!

Star Wars : Battlefront - Out Now Click to go straight to the product!

Fallout 4 - Out Now Click to go straight to the product!

Call of Duty III - Out Now Click to go straight to the product!

Rise of Tomb Raider - Out Now Click to go straight to the product!

Just Cause 3 - Out Soon Click to go straight to the product!

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six:Siege - Out Soon Click to go straight to the product!

Now everything I have suggested can be found for cheaper compared to the links I have included, and after all this is just a blog post of suggestions.
I hope you have found this interesting or helpful, it's just something different for my blog.
I shall speak to you very soon, thankyou for reading!

Allegiant trailer is finally here!

After many teasers and snippets of the film Allegiant, yesterday the official full trailer was released. Allegiant is the last film in the Divergent series and it seems to be the biggest and baddest one! The new film involves Tris, Four and the rest of the gang who have finally won the battle against the Eruidite faction leader Jeanine. They've discovered, thanks to Tris' ability to unlock a message, that their home is not what they thought, and that they have been an experiment all along to test how human civilation works.

Now I have seen Divergent and Insurgent. I loved Divergent, but I didn't like Insurgent one bit, I just couldn't get into it, the acting wasn't the best, and it just simply didn't appeal to me personally. Which is a shame because I have read the books and they were brilliant, but I suppose it's one of those things and its just my opinion, because my friend loved the film. However, I still watched the new Allegiant trailer and I have to say, when watching it with low expectations, I was blown away. It looks absolutely brilliant. It really teases you at the beginning and then boom the action kicks in, and the production value looks great! Exactly what you'd expect from a big named blockbuster. But I'll let you judge that for yourself...check it out. Are you a fan of the Divergent series? What do you think of the films so far? Let me know!
Thankyou for reading this quick little post and I will speak soon!

Release your inner child! FINDING DORY IS FINALLY HERE!

Yes, the first official teaser trailer was released for Finding Dory on the 10th November on Ellen, as Ellen is the voice of the famous pixar character! And WOW I am excited!
I absolutely love Disney and Pixar films, they just make me feel all nostalgic, and all warm and fuzzy inside. And Finding Nemo is one of my favourite Pixar films. Not only is it visually stunning but the storyline is brilliant, as Disney/Pixar never fail to present a deep and meaningful yet fun storyline through childrens animation. Its so clever, they are all so clever. I don't think there is one Disney film I've watched where I haven't gone through a series of emotions and learned a life lesson or two. But yes, Finding Nemo is one of my favourites and when the teaser picture was released on the 14th August I was so so excited as well as millions of other Pixar/Disney fans.

So there was quite a significant amount of time between the release of that first image to the release of the trailer. But who cares, it's here now! But we do have to wait just under a year until its release! BOO. But it's finally happening, and the trailer made me feel really happy and excited, so I can wait! But the film will be released on the 17th June 2016, so a feel good summer blockbuster to look forward too! But Pixar, there is one question...WHEN IS THE INCREDIBLES 2 HAPPENING!
What are your thoughts? Are you excited? Let me know!
Thankyou for reading and I will speak soon!

SUICIDE SQUAD EMPIRE COVERS

Suicide Squad is most probably one of the highest anticipated films to be released in 2016. And with the first trailer being released in July and now the release of the December edition of Empire which consists some of the characters in the film, the anticipation is just getting bigger!

Four Empire covers were released, and of course we first have the new version of the Joker who will be played by Jared Leto. Now lets clear this up, yes, Heath Ledgers Joker look and performance was magnificent, flawless, just every positive adjective you can think of and it seems unbeatable. However, Jared Leto is also a brilliant actor, just take his performance in Dallas Buyers Club! I think Jared Leto will give the Joker a modern update and he will shock everyone who doubts him with his performance. The Joker that Jared will play does look so much different from previous Jokers but isn't this a good thing? Isn't something new and different better? What do you think? Well we shall see when the film is released August 5th 2016. And I am bloody excited! Then we have Will Smith's character Deadshot, now I am a big fan of Will Smith and his work, and I am excited to see him in Suicide Squad as I feel he has disappeared from the spotlight of the film world for a while and this could be his big comeback, as it is a very big film! And he looks kick ass in his cover shot! Next we have Margot Robbie who will play Harley Quinn, and again I love her, brilliant actress, and she looks exactly how I would picture Harley in real life. And finally we have Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, now Cara is new to the film world, however in the short time she's been acting she has been in a few big blockbusters, and now she's landed one of the lead roles in one of the biggest blockbusters to be released in 2016. I haven't seen much of her work, besides Paper Towns, which was okay. So it shall be interesting to see how she performs in this. But besides that she too looks brilliant in her cover shot, but she is a model after all!
I am super excited for this film and I have bought all four copies of Empire. I have put the covers down below so check them out! And if you get the chance have a read of it, some really cool stuff is featured about the film inside!
Thankyou and I shall speak soon!

I have returned and so has BOND!

Yes, it's been a while since I have posted on here, but A-Levels for me are finally over! Hooray! I passed them all and I am finally at University studying for a media, film and culture degree. And now I have so much more time to give some tlc to my blog.

So enough about me, the build up continues to the highly anticpated SPECTRE, the newest addition to the Bond franchise. And I am so freakin' excited! Daniel Craig returns as Mr James Bond for the fourth time and he looks to be bigger and better than ever. The storyline is basically the discovery of a cryptic message which leads Bond back to his past and discover the truth behind Spectre.
Now I have watched every single Bond film, and I know everyone always says 'you can never beat the original' and people would curse at me if I ever bad mouthed the days when Sean Connery kicked ass in 'From Russia with Love' to 'Diamonds are Forever' , but I have to say I prefer the most recent Bond films. With the whole development in technology, from CGI to breath taking stunts, I am going to say I think Bond is better than it ever has been. As much as I loved the classics, besides when Pierce Brosnan was Bond (WORST BOND EVER). But being in 2015, Spectre looks to be visually spectacluar and better than ever!

But they have really kept fans on the edge of their seats from advertising to promotions to sneak peaks, and I am certainly excited for the film release. Most of the same cast from the past 3 films are back, such as Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and many more. But we have many exciting new additions to the film, and I am most excited for Andrew Scott, I LOVE HIM, he was amazing in Sherlock and I mean amazing, and he was brilliant in the film Pride. And when rumours were going around about him featuring in Spectre I was beyond excited, and when it was finally revealed he was, I was just extatic! I have high hopes and I am excited to be dazzled by his performance. And we have Christoph Waltz as our simply brilliant villain. I have really enjoyed his performances throughout his work especially in 'Water for Elephants' and especially one of his recent films 'Big Eyes' alongside Amy Adams was simply brilliant. So again, high hopes and I think he will be a brilliant villain.

There is also a lot of talk around the famous Bond opening titles, and apparently Spectres opening credits is supposed to be the biggest in Bond history. Director Sam Mendes has revealed that his extravagant day of the dead themed credits will be the best yet! And when looking back on previous opening credits, I have to say Sam Mendes must have something great up his sleeve to be 'the best yet' but only time will tell! What's your favourite Bond opening sequence? Mine is probably Goldfinger or Skyfall. Let me know!
And speaking of opening credits, you then have the soundtrack, and Spectre will be joined by the amazing Sam Smith, who wrote and will sing the Bond theme called 'Writing's on the wall'. I love Sam Smith's work, and listening to the soundtrack for the first time, I wasn't over whelmed, but then again, I said the same about 'Skyfall' by Adele and it wasn't long before I was singing it word for word round my kitchen! But I think it will grow on me, its Sam Smith after all. Sam is also the first British male solo artist to sing the Bond theme since Tom Jones featured in Thunderball in 1965. However Sam Smith's "Writing's on the wall" is out October 26th so for now have a listen on Youtube! But just simply hearing the classic Bond theme tune gives me goosebumps!

Well, I am very excited to see the newest addition to the Bond franchise. SPECTRE is out October 26th in cinemas across the UK and I will definitely be marching to my nearest cinema. I hope you enjoyed reading this short post and I will be writing more often now, so I will speak soon!

The Wedding Singer

Well, its been a while. I've turned 18. I sprained my ankle. I finally finished all my coursework. And that's all I am going to say. But I have missed writing and I am back!

One film I watched while recovering from my painful sprained ankle is The Wedding Singer, one of my favourite films of all time which I haven't watched in years for some bizarre reason! I come across it on sky demand and my inner romantic screeched as this is such a classic rom-com.

It is basically about a wedding singer called Robbie and a waitress Julia, the waitress are both engaged to be married but to the wrong people. Fortune intervenes to help them discover each other. It stars Adam Sandler who plays Robbie and Drew Barrymore as Julia, and they are just a film matchmade in heaven. They both have such amazing on screen chemistry and are just amazing together. 50 first dates is another brilliant film if you want a bit more Adam and Drew in your life and trust me you will after watching this. But I love Adam Sandler in this film, to be honest I love him in everything he's been in, he's one of those classic actors you can't get tired of. And can I just say I think I secretly fancy him with that mullet of his, please don't judge me. But in general he was just so cute in the film and his character Robbie is just funny, adorable and brilliant. And equal love goes out to Drew, who is just a babe. She is adorable and I love her in this, for similar reasons to Adam Sandler, she just delivers an amazing performance and you just engage with both of them throughout.

The story is just adorable and is a typical rom-com that you can't help but love. My favourite part is the end, when Robbie is conviniently on the same plane as Julia who is on her way to Vegas to marry Glen (WHO IS SUCH AN ARSE!) and he sings her the most adorable song which brings me to tears everytime! Honestly, even if your not into films or not interested in this one, just youtube the song and honestly you will fall in love and want to watch the whole film! And I have to say I love Frank Sivero's character in this, just because of his hair, it just makes me laugh so much! So 80's/90's!

But I have to say my inner soppy romantic comes out when watching this because its just so cute! I love everything about it and I really can't think of one fault from it, from my point of view. But please let me know if you have watched it! Or if you haven't, will you?

Thankyou for reading and I will speak to you soon! So good to be writing again! :-)

If you wanted to see the song I mentioned here it is! :-)

The Oscars 2015 | 87th Academy Awards

The highly anticipated 87th Academy Awards took place yesterday and it certainly was a night full of celebration for film. With most of the nominees being consistant throughout all the awards ceremonys so far, it was no suprise when the winners of the Oscars were announced. With Eddie Redmayne taking an Oscar for Best Actor for his role as Steven Hawking in The Theory of Everything, and to me this was so deserved and to be expected, his performance in "The Theory of Everything" was outstanding. And his speech was so real and thankful and he is just very very lovely! Julianne Moore swiped the award for Best Actress for her flawless performance in Still Alice. J K Simmons won for Best Supporting Actor in Whiplash, which is an amazing film! I watched it recently and he truly deserves every award he has gotten and will get, especially an Oscar, as does the film its self. And of course, Patricia Arquette took the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Boyhood. She completely deserved the award but she followed her win with an inspirational speech upon womens equality, and its truly moving to see people like Patricia using her position in the film world and in the media to address and support such an important issue. She was amazing.

Neil Patrick Harris hosted the 87th Academy Awards and from what i've seen he has been getting a lot of slack. But I thought he had done a very good job, as you can imagine how difficult it must be to host such a big event. And I suppose from Ellen's success of hosting the Oscars last year with the "selfie that broke the internet" and ordering pizza to the ceremony, Neil sure had a lot to live up too. But I think he did amazing and all I can say is well done to him. And he looked great in his white pants.
The opening of the Oscars was amazing! Did anyone else think this? I got goosebumps, where they reflected on cinema over time. With the hilarious Jack Black feature and Anna Kendrick appearing as Cinderella from Into the Woods. It was just lovely and shows how important film is and how amazing it is!

John Legend and Common won Best Original Song for the film Selma. It was performed beautifully and all the cast members of Selma wept in the crowd. This was followed by a powerful speech about civil rights and this too was truly inspiring. And again amazing to see people who have the position they have to speak out about very important issues in the world today.

Birdman won Best Picture, which I have to say I thought Boyhood wouldv'e won, however Birdman did equally deserve it, as I loved the film. And speaking of Birdman, Emmanuel Lubezki won the Oscar for Achievement in Cinematography, and I was so so happy that he won, because his work in Birdman was just brilliant and he deserves every award for it, especially an Oscar.

To see the rest of the winners, click here.

The Oscars also had performances from Lady Gaga, who was amazing with a Sound of Music melody. Along with Adam Levine and Maroon 5 performing "Lost Stars" from Begin Again. Tim McGraw with "Im Not Gonna Miss You" from Glen Campbell:I'll Be Me and Rita Ora with "Grateful" from Beyond the Lights. And of course the spectacular performance of "Everything Is Awesome" from The Lego Movie, which was amazing. But all the performances were outstanding.

Overall I thought it was a brilliant night, with well deserved winners, gorgeous dresses and tuxedos, performances and a great celebration of film. Neil Patrick Harris did a great job, not the best but still great. And just a well done to each winner.
But what did you think? Was you happy with the result? Did you watch the Oscars, let me know!
Thankyou for reading and speak soon! :-)

Do you want a film to weep at?-If I Stay

My best friend came over the other night so we could watch a proper girly flick and we decided on "If I Stay". Now, I have seen this film when it was released in cinemas but my friend had never seen it before. And wow, its certainly a tear jerker.

The film is based upon the book by Gayle Forman. It is based on Mia Hall who is left in a coma after a car accident. During an out-of-body experience, she must decide whether to wake up and live a life far different than she had imagined. The choice is hers if she can go on.
Mia Hall is played by Chloe Grace Moretz and she gives such a great performance throughout and you really engage with her character. As film opens we discover that Mia is part of a family that seems just too perfect, they are just all so cute. They then set off out together, and they are involved in an car accident. Seeing herself, she starts to understand, as she goes to the hospital that she is having an outerbody experience. These scenes all occur at the start of the film, the rest of the film is based at the hospital, with the majority of the film being flash-backs.

Director RJ Cutler has done an amazing job with this film, they way it was shot and edited together really contributed to the emotion. I loved how we are based at the accident and hospital but the film is led by flashbacks which gives us an insight into each character in the film.

Through flashbacks we see that Mia has fallen in love with older boy Adam, played by Jamie Buckley. And following their love story was truly lovely! As they are both completely different with their music, as Mia is more classical and Adam is a rockstar. They both just showed such a beautiful love story between two young people. My favourite part with these two is right at the end when he sits at her bedside and he writes her a song which is followed by flashback of him and her and its so cute and at this point I was crying uncontrollably.

The film had such a great cast, but I absolutely loved Mia's family members. Joshua Leonard plays Mia's father. He and the Director got the flashback scenes just right, they are also funny, as we see the younger wild rocker turn into the more chilled parent. But we have them beautiful shots and them real tear jerker moments where you can't help but weep. Mireille Enos, playing the mother, was absolutely incredible, she was such a cool mum, but has some poignant scenes with her daughter. However the most emotional scenes were with Mia's grandfather played by actor Stacy Keach. He gives a stand-out performance, particularly in one very emotional and very important scene. Wow, I was uncontrolably crying at that point.

Such a beautfiul film, and amazing cast, and outstanding and emotional storyline. It was funny because me and my friend were sat crying and then I was crying at her crying, she was crying at me crying. It was simply the most I have cried at a film ever. It weird because it makes you really think about, well, life! But I loved the story because even though it is based around the love between Mia and Adam, its also about the love between family and it was simply beautiful.

I really recommend everyone watch this! EVERYONE! Thankyou for reading this quick little post and let me know what you think of the film if you have watched it! Did you cry a lot? Did you fall in love with the film? :-)

Fifty Shades of Grey! Lets discuss

So first I am sorry for the lack of posts, with university open days to exams, I have been running round like a headless chicken. But the most highly anticipated film this year was released onto our cinema screens this last weekend and that film of course is "Fifty Shades of Grey".

So yes, I went to go see it, and I loved the books so of course I was going to see the film. And no I am  not into all that BDSM, but in both the books and the film I just love the romance and love story behind all that, and I just find both Ana and Christian as characters so intriguing and interesting. I went to see it with my best friend on Valentines day, a proper girls afternoon! ;-) And I have to say, I really liked it.

Now if you haven't heard or seen or read "Fifty Shades of Grey", which I highly doubt from its global success. Its basically based on a literature student Anastasia Steele, whose life changes forever when she meets handsome, yet tormented, billionaire Christian Grey. And its the story of their relationship.

Now before watching it, I was reading through reviews and comments about the film and it got very mixed responses. I have to highly disagree with most of them as I thought it was a really good film. It stuck to the books incredibly, to the finest detail! And Sam Taylor Johnson directed the film beautifully, as the books are very graphic and it wouldn't be suitable for the cinema screens, but she managed to show enough to keep to the books, but she shot it so it was elegant and romantic, rather than porn basically. And I think she did a great job overall, especially in the "Red Room of Pain" scenes, where again she shot enough to satisfy audiences but so it looked artistic and she did it with no faults. She made such a sexy, romantic and elegant film given the nature of the books and I really admire he work in this film. This film would have been very difficult to film but she did it spot on.

Now Dakota Johnson stole the show for me, she was my favourite part of the whole film. First she really lived up to the role of Ana, and her performance really lived up to the character in the book. And seeing her character grow throughout the film was amazing and Dakota delivered the performance beautifully! And of course, my hat goes off to her for them really intense sex scenes in the film. As she is fully naked in most of the film and that would have been incredibly difficult to film as well as keeping up with that character performance. Because those scenes were intense, you saw everything! But in those scenes both Dakota and Jamie Dornan delivered it so elegantly. And this is important as it is being shown in cinemas. Dakota did not half make me laugh in this film, as Ana really showed her humourous side which was key to evening out the sexual tension throughout the film and she just made me laugh as she was just Anastasia from the books! And because she was funny. But overall Dakota's performance was flawless, elegant and just simply faultless, and I really admire her for how much she gave to the role. Dakota you are one sexy lady!

Jamie Dornan, well just look at him, he is beautiful, he is Christian Grey. But he didn't half have some cheesy lines, but I liked that because I love film cheese! And all the cheesy lines were directly from the books, so they were just keeping to the book. But overall he too gave a brilliant performance, as Christian is a very damaged, mysterious character and Jamie lived up to that throughout the film. And he didn't half deliver in the intense sex scenes, he really lived up to the dominant Mr Grey that women fell in love with in the books. My goodness he was hot! And to say he is Irish his American accent was spot on all the way through. And like Dakota's characters, you could see Christian change through the film and Jamie performed this too without fault.
And both Dakota and Jamie had such amazing chemistry throughout which was so crucial as both Ana and Christian have such an intense releationship and both Jamie and Dakota made that relationship feel so real through the film.

Overall there are some extremely cute scenes, and very intense sexual scenes. Now I see a lot of people complaning there isn't enough sex in the film, but I think there is more than enough! Yes, fair enough the book is based around Ana and Christians sexual relationship but I think its more based around their romantic relationship and how they fix eachother and the obstacles they face together. So I think there was the right amount of cute moments and sex to satisfy audiences all over the world and keep true to the books. And I think the film worked brilliantly.

And the soundtrack! Oh my the soundtrack! I think its the best soundtrack for a film in a very long time, each song is just beautiful and fits with the film perfectly. It was the scene when Christian takes Ana in his helicopter for the first time, they are gazing at eachother whilst flying over Seattle, we see beautiful shots of Seattle, and all this whilst the amazing Ellie Goulding song "Love me like you do" was playing. Oh just so many feels. And I love The Weeknd-Earned it, Sia-Salted Wound, Beyonce-Haunted and Crazy in love! Oh the soundtrack is just so sexy, can you tell how much I love it? They feautured most of the songs through the film and that made the film so much more sexy.

So, Fifty Shades was released on the 14th February, and had taken over $81.7 million over 3 days! And $158 million worldwide so far! So it  has done extremely well in the box office, being the biggest grossing film so far this year. This is no suprise to me at all! But I can't believe it ended on such a cliffhanger, obviously I know what happens because I have read the books but still!

When I first went to see Fifty Shades of Grey I didn't know what to expect, what do you expect? But overall I was completely satisfied! I thought it was so romantic, sexy, intense and shot beautifully. The performances were flawless and it was overall a very good film. And I am just waiting for the comformation of the sequels. I would recommend people to go see it, but if its not your cup of tea, its not your cup of tea. But I just think its such a unique love story and its just so intriguing and mysterious! Oh, I just loved it.

Have you seen it? What did you think? Let me know!
Thankyou for reading and speak soon. :-)

BAFTA's! What a night!

Last night along with many others I watched the 68th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA's). And  WOW, what a night for film it was. It just showcased once more the pure talent that Britain has to offer in the film industry, along with amazing films from all over the world. Everyone coming together to simply celebrate film. And all the winners were well deserved and none came of a suprise, but my gosh the competition was certainly tough.

With the simply beautiful "Boyhood" taking the award for best film and supporting actress. Eddie Redmayne grabbing the well deserved award for best actor for his incredible performance in "The Theory of Everything". His reaction was priceless and so thankful and his speech was simply lovely and genuine. He is just lovely. JK Simmons won best supporting actor for his role in "Whiplash" and I was particulary pleased with this win, as it is such a brilliant and unique film and his performance was faultless and so true. And his speech was so sweet. So very happy with that! And the other win I was particularly happy with was "Birdman" taking the award for best cinematography! Now this may sound quite film geek, but the cinematography in the film is beautiful and visually stunning and it really contributes to the feel of the film and I just loved it! Well done Emmanuel Lubezki!
Link to all the winners at the BAFTA's.

Stephen Fry was brilliant at hosting the BAFTA's, I love him anyway but he really kept the spirit high and constantly reminded the audience and public on how brilliant film is and especially the british talent in film today. And he certainly made me laugh throughout, he's just brilliant, who doesn't love Stephen Fry!
I loved that Stephen Hawking himself attended the ceremony with the film about his life being up for multiple awards, and he also presented the award for best special effects along with Felicity Jones who plays his onscreen wife and it was simply lovely.
Kasabian opened the show with a brilliant performance, and with the many films released in the past year being showcased behind them performing, again really emphasised how much film has achieved in the last year and it was so inspiring. And Kasabian were great!

So did you watch the BAFTA's last night? Were you happy with the outcome? Let me know!
Thankyou for reading this short post! :-)

Lazy Sunday Films (Netflix)

I have done a post previously of some of my favourite films which were on Netflix, but in this post I am going to give you a few recommendations of films for a perfect lazy Sunday. Now I love lazy Sundays but can't always enjoy them because I'm working, but when I do I love to stay in my pyjamas all day, drink lots of tea and watch some films. Now I watch films from NOW TV, Netflix, DVD's, from anywhere really, but in this post I'll be recommending a film from each genre that is on Netflix.

Action and Adventure.
Hansel and Gretel:Witch Hunters & Sin City

There are such a wide range of films in this genre on Netflix, so I am going to recommend a couple because I really don't think I could settle on one. One of my favourites featured in this genre is Hansel & Gretel:Witch Hunters. Now this film is just a twist on the classic tale, based on Hansel and Gretel who are witch hunters, and when there is a fabled moon, a new kind of evil awakens that holds a secret to their past. I just love the way the style of the film its so dark and quite gothic but so action packed and I love it. I love the storyline and how they interpreted the classic tale into it, and the two main actors Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton gave a brilliant performance throughout. I just think this is one of those lazy Sunday films, a good old action packed fairytale.
Now I also love Sin City, based on four tales of crime adapted from Frank Miller's popular comics, focusing around a brute who's looking for the person responsible for the death of his beloved Goldie, a man fed up with Sin City's corrupt law enforcement who takes the law into his own hands after a horrible mistake, a cop who risks his life to protect a girl from a deformed pedophile, and a hitman looking to make a little cash. And again, I love the style of the film, I find this one in particular visually stunning and unique. The story lines are intense and intriguing and its all in all a really good film, the performances are all brilliant through out. One of those films you could watch over and over.

British.
Miss Potter

Its funny actually because when I look through the British genre on Netflix, half of them aren't British! But regardless you have a lot of British films to choose from, from an elegant classic encounter with Mr Darcey to a  grungy street thug film. But my favourite is Miss Potter, yeah I know, not everyones go to but it's such a relaxing upbeat film to me. It is basically based around the story of Beatrix Potter who is the author of "The Tale of Peter Rabbit", and her life around the book. And its just such a lovely film. It stars Renee Zellweger as Miss Potter along with Ewan McGregor, Emma Watson and many more. There isn't that much to say about it apart that is lovely and interesting to learn about the life of such a famous author.

Children and Family.
Bratz:The Movie

Yes, I know what your thinking. High quality recommendation. But its just such a lazy Sunday film, just complete rubbish but its just so good, I can't explain it. It is basically the live action remake of the famous Bratz animation and I have to say when I was younger I was obsessed with the animations and I had all the dolls! But besides that it revolves around the four best friends dealing with the first year of high school and its just a great film to watch on a lazy Sunday!

Comedy.
21 & Over

Again there is so many comedies on Netflix, but it depends on your sense of humour and if you have seen Project X, you will love this! It is basically about this guy celebrating his 21st birthday with his two best friends the night before his important medical school interview. And its just hilarious, I laughed all the way through it and after watching Project X and loving that, it just carries on the same humour and I think its just so relatable to teenagers. As this kind of situation is every teenagers dream I suppose. But other than that, a great film thats incredibly hilarious.

Drama.
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas

If you are ready for a good cry then this film is certainly for you. It is set during World War II, and is a story seen through the eyes of Bruno, the eight-year-old son of the commandant at a concentration camp, whose forbidden friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence has startling and unexpected consequences. It visually beautiful and the story is simply heartbreaking but is told with such beauty. You really involve yourself with each character and every performance is brilliantly delivered by everyone on screen. I think visually seeing such an awful part of history is really enlightening in a sense and its hard hitting. Because everyone will have heard of this tragic time in history but won't truly understand how awful it was until you see it, in this case through this film. I cried so much and I thought about it a lot after which is good because you really think about the story of the film and the message it gives. Just a tragic yet beautiful film. I recommend everyone watch it.

Horror.
Vacancy

I have spoke about alot of horror films previously as they are my favourite genre. So I didn't want to be too repetitive. But if you want a classic slasher film I love the Saw franchise and Texas Chainsaw, or maybe if your feeling a little paranormal, I recommend Blair Witch or Insidious. But I came across Vacancy recently and its one of those films that I haven't watched in ages but I really enjoyed! It is basically based around a young married couple who become stranded at an isolated motel which has video cameras in the room, so they have to escape before they become part of a snuff film. Its a thriller, horror and it just keeps you on the edge of your seat and certainly is a good tension builder. Certainly a class lazy Sunday horror flick.

Musicals.
Disney Films

Now I know this may not count but every Disney film has some really good sing along songs and I have to say the best type of film to watch on a lazy Sunday is a Disney film. They are just so nostalgic for me and are just classics and they make me happy. Some of my favourites are Mulan, Hercules, Aladdin, Toy Story. All available on Netflix along with lots more Disney classics.

Romance.
Safe Haven

Everyone loves a good romance. I certainly do. And at the moment on Netflix my favourite has been Safe Haven. It is based on a young woman with a mysterious past, and she runs away to Southport, North Carolina where her bond with a widower forces her to confront the dark secret that haunts her. I loved the storyline and the backstory behind the main female character and of course I loved the romance. I just enjoyed it a lot more because there was something to the story besides constant happiness and love. I'm not sure what it was but I really loved it. And Josh Duhamel is in it and he is just a dream.

Sci-Fi & Fantasy.
Hunger Games:Catching Fire

Do I really have to say anything? Well I am not the biggest sci-fi fan, but I love fantasy films. And Hunger Games is up there with one of my favourite franchises. If anyone hasn't heard of this film it is the second film in the Hunger Games franchise which is about the battle between the Capitol and the Districts in a broad description, but it obviously has a lot more too it. You would have to watch the first film in order to understand the story but I have previously done posts on the films of you want to check them out. But definitely a amazing film. A must see!

And those are my recommendations, there are a lot of genres on Netflix but some I didn't have a favourite film for so I didn't want to just randomly choose one. But Netflix is amazing for lazy Sundays, so much variety and there is something for everyone. But what is your favourite film on Netflix? Do you enjoy lazy Sundays? Have you seen any of the films I've mentioned?

Thankyou so much for reading and feel free to leave me a comment, tell me what you think! :-)

Movie News and Gossip. #2

Many of you seemed to enjoy my post about some of the latest gossip and news in the film world, so I thought I'd do this as a regular thing.
So whats new? Lets discuss.

Magic Mike XXL trailer is finally released!

Yes ladies. Yesterday Channing Tatum released the Magic Mike XXL first teaser trailer, which offers a glimpse of Channing Tatum’s killer dance moves and body! And the rest of the sexy cast doing their thing. The highly anticipated trailer was premiered on Ellen.
The story is set three years after Mike decided that his stripper days were over and turn his attention to his true passion which is making furniture. However, it would seem he still has it in him.
The veterans of the Kings of Tampa join Mike for one final show in Myrtle Beach. But they realise that this could be their craziest experience yet. So we can only imagine there will be plenty of shirtless scenes and dance moves that will make the girls scream. I'm fan girling about this film! Matthew McConaughey and Alex Pettyfer have not returned for the sequel, but Channing Tatum is still joined by the gorgeous Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Adam Rodriguez, Gabriel Iglesias and Kevin Nash. Along with Amber Heard, Elizabeth Banks, Jada Pinkett Smith, Donald Glover and Andie MacDowell.
I loved the first one, and I cannot wait for the second one. FINALLY! I feel like I have been waiting for the trailer forever! Every girl needs a little bit of Channing Tatum grinding on their screen.
Magic Mike XXL struts into cinemas on July 31. And I think everyone is excited for that cinema trip! Are you?

Treated to a first look at "Frozen Fever"
Its been 2 years since Frozen stole the hearts of children and parents everywhere and became a worldwide phenomenon.
Disney has been planning to revisit the film for a while, announcing a follow-up short, Frozen Fever, last year. We already know that the plot, once more thought up by co-directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, finds Elsa (Idina Menzel) attempting to throw a birthday party for sister Anna (Kristen Bell).
Things don’t exactly go to plan, and features Elsa getting the sniffles which is very ironic and funny. "Elsa doesn't get a cold in the usual way, She's special. Surprising things occur that wreak a little havoc."-Jennifer Lee.
The close bond between the sisters and the gang around them will still be there from the previous film. The famous singing snowman Olaf (Josh Gad) ice merchant Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and reindeer Sven return for the short film. Plus, we can expect a new song from Oscar-winning writers Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. Prepare to have yet another brilliant Disney song stuck in your head!
Frozen Fever, which is seven-minutes long, will be attached to the live-action Cinderella film, due to arrive here on March 27. Exciting!
Are you excited for Frozen Fever? Have you still got "Let it go" in your head?

Poltergeist is back!
I have recently written a short post previous to this one on the reboot of Poltergeist if your interested in having a nosy at that. But yes, today was the day that a glimpse of the new Poltergeist film was unleased onto the internet, which looks absolutely brilliant!
Obviously I wasn't alive when the original was released but I remember When I was first watched it as a kid and it scared me so much. And was actually one of the first horror films I watched. I eventually rewatched it when I was a little older and it still scared the crap out of me then. Its just the jump scares, frightening anticipation and huge special effects that make it terrifying! But one of the best classic horror films for me.
The film is based around a family called the Bowens. But one night their youngest, 5-year-old Madison, hears a voice from inside the television set. At first there is an invasion of friendly spirits, but then a force of evil threatens to destroy them.
The reboot looks crazy, but intriguing from the trailer and I am looking forward to seeing how well they do with this and if it ruins or is just as good as the original.

Astro Boy is back.
2009 was the last time Osamu Tezuka’s Astro Boy was brought to the big screen by a studio in the West. However, special effects company Animal Logic is gambling on a live-action version of Astro Boy to enjoy a little more success.
While Animal Logic has largely been known for animation work on Happy Feet and providing VFX to big films such as this year’s Avengers sequel, the company has been busy developing a possible Betty Boop film. So Astro Boy will be yet another big project for the company, and they are now on the hunt for potential writers and directors.
Astro Boy launched in the early 1950s has become a Japanese icon, featuring in Manga and newspaper strips. Now, the task will be to turn the tale of a robot boy created to replace a scientist’s dead son who uses his powers to battle evil, into a film with plenty of effects. And with the quality of film effects we have today, I can imagine that we are in for a visually amazing, action packed film.
“We’ve seen him as a manga, an anime and an animated movie but we’ve never seen him as a live-action movie or him as a superhero...we actually see him in the same league as an Iron Man.”-Animal Logic’s Zareh Nalbandian.
Well we will just have to wait and see. But what do you think? Do you like Astro Boy? Is a live action film a good idea?

Very random range of film news and gossip but all very exciting. Thankyou so much for reading these little posts and let me know what you think of any of them! :-)
