THE HUNGER GAMES CATCHING FIRE!

Well as a film lover and blogger I felt I needed to share my thoughts with you. I will do another detailed blog post in the future on this film, however I dont want to now as I don't want to spoil it for anyone as it only came out last weekend.

BUT OMG IT IS PROBABLY THE BEST FILM I HAVE SEEN IN A LONG LONG TIME.

I went to see this on the friday, which is the official full day it came out. And I went to see it with 3 friends, one of which is crazy about the Hunger Games like me! And the other two weren't big fans at all and only watched the first one because we planned to see this and they didn't want to be confused. But I can now honestly tell you them two friends have left that cinema and haven't stopped talking about it since, and has even started reading the books. I know crazy haha!

Anyway I was sat in the cinema and it is the first film in ages where I have physically reacted to it, wether it be a gasp or a comment and I did have a little cry.

But the film was just so packed with action, story, romance and it was just ahhhh so amazing! The graphics and SFX were sensational as expected and the film just seemed real and was just brilliant! I would say it was far far better than the first one, and trust me it really is!

The main aspect I was interested in was the arena, as I have read the books, I didn't want the film to disappoint with the visual arena as it is of course a key feature in the film, but WOW they completely didn't let me down. It was so well presented, thought of and you can tell they put alot of effort into this aspect of the film.

The end. OMG the end.

I am so buzzed from the build up, the advertising, the film its self and can honestly not wait until the final two are released. However for the meantime, I will be reading the books.

I would really encourage and reccommend people read the books, as they are amazing and worth the read. They are better than the films (even though the films are amazing!) I am just reffering to the fact there is obviously alot more content and story and feel its a story anyone can enjoy!

If you haven't seen the new Hunger Games! GO AND SEE IT! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT AT ALL! But make sure to watch the first one if you haven't already as you will not understand the complete storyline!

But don't worry I will do a detailed post about this movie I just thought if I leave it for a while, it won't spoil it for people and we can have a right good discussion about it!

But thankyou so much for reading! And may the odds ever be in your favour! :-)

MOVIE QUOTE OF THE DAY!

There are no rules in filmmaking. Only sins. And the cardinal sin is dullness.
- Frank Capra

UNUSUAL TELEVISION.

BATES MOTEL...

Created by Carlton Cuse, he brings a modern remake and prequel to the movie Pysco. This story begins with the early years of a teenage boy called Norman Bates and his mother Norma, where they lived in an old house overlooking the unusual and mysterious motel which they are at that time renovating. The house and motel both come with secrets of their own as does the new town which the Bates' now call home.

Well I have been watching this in the UK on Universal, and have weirdly enjoyed it. I was first of all intrigued by the advertisments, this including the trailer, posters etc. And just found it quite mysterious and very intriguing. Everyone will know the film Physco by Alfred Hitchcock or at least the shower scene and the ever so famous screeching music. So I thought it was interesting that they show us Norman Bates early years.

One of the main characters Norman Bates is played by Freddie Highmore. Now this might just be me, but the only main screenings I have seen him in is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Spiderwick Chronicles and Arthur. And all of them are aimed more at a younger audience and families, so I was quite suprised when I discovered he would be playing such a dark, tormented character in this horror/thriller series. And from this, I also thought he may not be able to pull of the character as well as someone who is experienced in this genre of film/television. This may be me being judgemental but I genuinely didn't think he would. But I was very suprised and impressed, as he played the character so so well, he made Norman so realistic and true and this really contributed to the darkness and mystery of the storyline. And he seemed such a natural at it, he is a brilliant actor in general from other aspects of film/television he's been in, but saying he has jumped from younger audience aimed film and television to a show such as this is very impressive.

Then we had Vera Farmiga who played Norma, who is Normans mother. Now Vera is known for performing in the horror/thriller/drama genre, as she has starred in films such as The Conjuring, Touching Evil (TV Series) and Running Scared and so many more. And as expected she played this role brilliantly, as her character is very dark, protective and very much a phsyco. So this I would think would be a tricky role to perform, however Vera played it amazingly, again like Freddie she made the character believable and real and this really contributed to the audience interaction and storyline.

The storyline its self is such a deep, mysterious and simply weird and such an addictive one at that. As each episode leaves you with un-answered questions and thoughts and simply keeps you counting down the days until the next episode. The first series is over now I believe, but I'm sure you can catch up with it or check it out online, well I know you can in the UK, however there is going to be a second series coming but not for a while yet!

However if you aren't into the whole horror/thriller television then this may not be for you, but doesn't mean you can't have a dab at it! You may find the story behind the physco from "Physco" interesting.

Thankyou so so much for reading, as i've said I try to make my posts sort and brief but interesting, because I know it can be a nightmare to just be reading and reading. But thankyou!

YOUTUBE ADDICT...

I LOVE HISHE...

Hishe (How It Should Have Ended) is a Youtube channel consisting of cute cartoon videos of very famous films, showing an alternate and to be quite frank a more realistic ending. Heres a little insight and information on this Youtube Channel.

The people behind this channel is Daniel Baxter and Tommy Watson, and thier inspiration came from discussing aternate endings of a film they watched. In 2005 their first animation How Matrix Revolutions Should Have Ended was completed and soon after in July, 2005 the website was established. HISHE has been awarded the "Best Internet Parody" award for "How Superman Should Have Ended" by Spike TV at the 2006 Scream Awards and has been featured in an MTV Comedy and Talent Showcase.

In September 2009, How It Should Have Ended joined Starz Digital Media which now handles all licensing. In April 2010, HISHE was awarded the Streamy Award for Best Animated Web Series and recently, the Teens React segment (on TheFineBro's channel) looked at the Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter, and The Hunger Games and showed reactions and thoughts from teens about them.

Honestly guys, they're amazing, the videos are hilarious and are of such a high quality, and the animation is so unique and individual its amazing! Each story line is so relatable, because you think "omg why didn't it end like that", and really adds that relationship between the channel and its viewers. They've done videos of The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, World War Z, Pacific Rim, just so so many, so there is at least one video for anyones taste! :-)
So please, please go and check them out, you won't regret it, subscribe to them to keep up to date with thier videos!

And I will see you soon, thankyou so much for reading and please follow this blog on BlogLovin'. :-)

SATURDAY NIGHT IN!

PACIFIC RIM!

When monstrous, destructive aliens start rising from the sea, a war begins that take millions of innocent lives and then goes on to consume human resources for years on end. To defeat the giants, a specific type of weapon was devised. Huge robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. However the Jaegers are not as nearly strong as the aliens. Then due to a near defeat and the possibility of the worlds end, the world has to then depend and rely on two unlikely heroes, a washed up former pilot Raileigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested female trainee Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi). Who are put together to drive an Jaeger from the past in the hope that together, they can save the world from a mounting apocalypse.

Well I had a lovely saturday evening, sat in at home, snuggled in a duvet with food, drink and treats with friends. And I suggested we watch Pacific Rim.

Now i have to admit, this isn't really my type of film, well it didnt really look like it from advertisments. But WOW its such an amazing film! What I really loved is that I found you should never judge a film by its cover haha! :-) Don't get me wrong I'll watch anything, and have watched alot of films from all different genre's, but for some reason this film never appealed to me.

The main point I have to make, its the high standard of CGI, especially of the aliens and Jaegers (robots). As this really made the film really realistic and believeable, and added to the action themes and building tension throughout the film. I just think its absolutely magnificent and have never particularly seen such high standard CGI. And the SFX is also amazing, just the theis particular aspect of the film is just amazing!

It also consists of a good storyline, and a particular emotional storyline, which was especially necessary regarding the actual visual content of the film. And aswell as the action and violence in the film the storyline really adds emotion and gives the audience something to relate too.

And again I have too add that Charlie Hunnam is gorgeous! So even if you absolutely hate futuristic/alien films, you have him to relate and stare at through the whole film!

This came out this year, so it is fairly recent, if you prefer recent films. Haha. But I definitely reccommend this as a flick to stick on at weekend with family or friends, put your feet up, get some nibbles and really sit and watch it. But hey you could do that with any film but it was just an idea, thats what I did this evening anyway! :-) haha!

Again THANKYOU for reading and please follow my blog on BlogLovin'! :-)

LONG TIME NO SEE!-YORK

So in my last post I said I was going to be attending a short film festival in york! If you want to check that out go for it! :-) However, I was not allowed to take pictures of any of them films (obviously haha) or anything, which I thought was abit silly. However, I just want to say its so inspirational to see the ideas and creativity in some of the films and from many independant film makers. And to see the potential of what could be hitting out cinema screens in the next few years is truly inspirational. I especially enjoyed the thriller films that were shown, and you were shown a series of short films in around an hour and a half.

We were then given the oppurtunity to do a little bit of sight-seeing round York. And it is such a beautiful place (I have included pictures for you all!) And it is just my dream place to live! Its so old-fashioned, cultural and so scenaric. I love the old antique shops and cobbled streets. Oh its just beautiful and a great venue for the ASFF (Asthetica Short Film Festival.

This was then followed by a masterclasses at York Theatre Royal, where we joined Barry Ryan for a discussion about Warp Films, creators of pioneering British cinemas including Four Lions, This is England and Dead Man’s Shoe. This was particularly inspirational as I want to go into film writing as a career, and to hear his journey and work was amazing aswell as hearing what I could be writing about in times to come.

Well thats basically the summary of it!

Goodbye, thankyou for reading!

A sneaky picture of the masterclass! Shh haha :-)

Here I have shared with the you, the current UK Box Office Statistics, they change often, but I have shared with you the most recent results. And thought that some of you maybe confused with what this all means. So I will briefly explain! :-)

The position of course means, what position it is in, in the Box Office. So Captain Phillips is currently top in the Box Office.

The title is of course the name of the film. See how many you can recognise and how many you've watched! :-)
The weekend column, basically means how much money the film made in thier opening weekend. In this case Captain Phillips yet again takes the top spot, by raking in £2.45M.
The gross column, basically is how much the film has made overall. However the amount depends on how many weeks it has been in the Box Office. For example Blue Jasmine grossed £4.56M in 5 weeks, however Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 grossed £3.66M in just 1 week. It entirely depends on the popularity of the film.

So as a film blogger, I'll make sure to update you on the ever-changing Box Office.

Thankyou! :-)

WHATS ONT' TELE?

DRACULA
(Drama/Horror)

In the UK, Sky Living has introduced us to the new series called Dracula! In the USA, I believe it is shown on NBC!
The names its self gives away the plot of the series. DRACULA.

Dracula arrives in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who insists that all he wants to do is bring modern science to a Victorian society. However in reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier. There's only one problem that can potentially interupt his plan. Dracula falls hopelessly in love with a woman who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.

In the UK, this series has already began, being first broadcast Thursday 31st November. And I was intrigued by the trailer, and decided to watch it.
I have been very adventurous with my television programme choices recently, as I have watched and liked so many, that I never thought I'd watch, such as Bates Motel, Breaking Bad and Dracula.

I really enjoyed the first episode, as its such a teaser of an episode, as it leaves so many un-answered questions, which will then hook you to the whole series. And the first episode its self leaves you on such a cliffhanger, and I simply can't wait for the up-coming episodes.

There seems to be an anticipated romance on the cards. So if like me, you love a romance in a series, this may be up your street. I just love it when two characters need to be together, but it keeps you anticipated as it seems to take forever for it to happen. (OMG I sound so sad!)

I loved series such as the White Queen, which had so many romantic story lines in it, which I also recommend you watch! True Blood, Teen Wolf, even How I Met Your Mother!
So yeah! If you fancy a new tv programme to sink your teeth into! (Made a terrible joke!) then this may be for you! So go ahead and throw yourself into something new!

Then we have to talk about the "eye candy". Which is Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who plays Alexander Grayson a.k.a Dracula! And lets be honest, he is gorgeous! I admit, he's not they type I'd usually say was good looking. (In my own opinion)!
But wow! He is a very gorgeous man! And the way he performs as his character is just extremely seductive and sexy in a way. However him as a professional actor, he does the character Dracula justice, and really makes the programme and his character real and believeable, which is of course a key part of a successful television series.

All in all, I am particularly impressesed, to say this wouldn't have been my type of series. And would advise anyone who likes a romantic drama, with that touch of gothic horror. And anyone who fancies being adventurous!

In the UK it is on Sky Living, every Thursday at 9:00pm!

In the USA, I believe it is aired on a Friday on NBC 10/9c! However the USA is further ahead in the series.

So go check it out!
